Isaiah boy

I spent the day at the hospital today. I wanted to bring food and support to Nathan and Carmen. The girls and I (and Josiah) took Sienna to a nearby park and played most of the afternoon there with her other cousin. Nathan and Carmen have been generously loaned a motor home and are making that their home base. Isaiah is still in a lot of pain and also dealing with the side effects of the chemotherapy. I saw him through his door, not wanting to compromise his health. One of his biggest battles right now is his almost non-existent immune system. He is still fighting the pneumonia he got before his diagnosis. Please pray for his immune system to heal, that cancer cells would react to the chemotherapy immediately so that when they do another bone marrow sample in a week, he will have improved. Obviously, they are so weary of being in the hospital and seeing Isaiah so sick. Please, please pray.

Isaiah Update

Isaiah has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or A.L.L. Leukemia. This is the most common type of Leukemia in children. Today he had surgery to have a port put in his chest under the skin. The port is connected to the veins near his heart and creates easy access for chemotherapy. The port will be in for about 3 years. The plan is to treat his spinal cord with chemotherapy first, even though both the spinal cord and brain showed no signs of cancer. This is a common procedure now in children with leukemia. Isaiah is expected to remain in the hospital for 2 weeks at this time, receiving chemotherapy. We are unsure how much and how often he will receive treatment, thereafter. Please continue to pray for Isaiah, as well as his mom, dad and sister.

My nephew, Isaiah, has just be diagnosed with leukemia. He has been hospitalized for anywhere from 2 weeks to 40 days for treatment. At this time, we don't know what that treatment will include. Nathan, Carmen and our entire family covet your prayers.

Short Hair!!

I was trying to be a carefree, understanding mom when Brianne asked to get her hair cut short. She'd been asking for a month. So even though I teared up when her beautiful baby curls were cut off (about 12 inches!), I think it looks cute. She LOVES it and stares at herself in anything that shows her reflection. She just looks so much older and ready for kindergarten. Moving to 'the next stage of life' is so hard for me. Where's the balance of pushing them to grow but wanting to hold them back, in our arms, for just a little longer? Oh, this motherhood thing is harder than I thought.
